Holiday Notice

Good news! We will have a three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 8th to June 10th.Three days in total.
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanyang Festival and Tianzhong Festival, is held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar every year. It is one of the four major traditional festivals in my country, along with the Spring Festival, Qingming Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival.
Dragon Boat Festival Customs
1.Eating zongzi is an important part of the Dragon Boat Festival customs. Lu You wrote in his poem: “zongzi is wrapped in two buns, and moxa is tied to the crown”. Zongzi has appeared in the Spring and Autumn Period. The early zongzi was cold zongzi with honey. In the Song Dynasty, there appeared honey zongzi with candied fruit. In the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, zongzi was wrapped in reed leaves, and the variety became more colorful. In the Qing Dynasty, zongzi evolved into what it is today.
2.Dragon boat racing is one of the most important folk activities of the Dragon Boat Festival. The Tang Dynasty poet Lu Zhao wrote, “When drums beat, there was a faint sound of thunder, and where the beast’s head rose, there was a light snow.” People paddled canoes carved into the shape of dragons as a competitive game, “People rushed into the waves in unison, and birds retreated to fly first when leaping over the waves.” The shouts of the spectators on the shore resounded through the lively scene between heaven and earth, “I didn’t believe it when I heard it was a dragon, but it really won the championship.” The dragon boats, with silent support in their hearts, sprinted towards the finish line.
3.Hanging mugwort. The Dragon Boat Festival is in midsummer, when the weather is hot and humid. During this period, people often seek to repel insects and strengthen their bodies. Wen Tianxiang wrote in his poem: “On the fifth day of the fifth month, give me a branch of mugwort.” People hang mugwort on their doors and hang calamus in the shape of a sword under the eaves. This has the effect of repelling insects and mosquitoes, and also symbolizes people’s pursuit and yearning for a better life, a vision of peace and health, and expresses people’s cherishment of life.
